Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the exhibit?

A: Hometown Teams is an exhibition about sports and sporting culture’s effect on American society. It comes to us through the Smithsonian and the Texas State Historical Society, which has chosen Edinburg as a location for this traveling exhibition. UTRGV Library has also created an exhibition with content related to football in the Upper Valley, and a digital exhibition.

Q: Where is the exhibit?

A: The exhibit is located on Level 2 of the University Library in Edinburg, in Room 2.110. Take the elevator to Level 2 and turn to your left upon exiting the elevators. The exhibit is just through the doors. We also have materials related to football in the Valley in level one of the library, in the Library Lobby, and an online exhibition.

Q: How long is the exhibit running?

A: The exhibit is running from 7/21 – 8/25. We are having an opening reception on 7/26 from 6 – 8 pm.

Q: When is the Opening Reception?

A: The opening reception is on Thursday 7/26 from 6 – 8 pm. We will be having speakers talking about the history of sporting in the RGV and will open the exhibition for viewing after that.

M – Th: 8 am – 8 pm
F: 8 am – 5 pm
Sa: 9 am – 5 pm
Su: 12 pm – 8 pm

Q: Do I need a parking pass?

A: Yes! You need either a UTRGV parking pass or a visitor’s parking pass. Visitor’s parking passes are $1. Please contact UTRGV Parking services at parking@utrgv.edu or 956-665-2738 to arrange for a visitor’s pass.

Q: Where are the best places to park?

A: Parking Lots closest to the University Library are Lots E10 and E28. Please note that construction currently has Van Week Street closed from Sugar Road to Lot E10. To access the parking lots, the best way to do so is via Schunior Street. From Schunior take Roberts Street south and then take a right on Van Week Street. Lot E28 will be the first parking lot on your right. Lot E10 is the only lot on your left, just before the construction closes the street. You can find a campus map by Googling “UTRGV Edinburg Campus Map.”

Q: Where can I find more information?
